30 09 2025

On September 16th, the World Economic Forum (WEF) officially announced that Hisense HVAC Qingdao Factory has been designated a "Sustainability Lighthouse". This follows its earlier recognition as a “Lighthouse Factory” in 2024 for advanced manufacturing, making it the first “Dual-Lighthouse Factory” in the global air conditioning industry.

The Sustainability Lighthouse distinction is awarded to leading factories that demonstrate excellence in both smart manufacturing and sustainable development. It represents the highest standards in digital transformation and carbon neutrality efforts. To date, only 26 companies worldwide have received this honor. This title highlights Hisense HVAC’s significant breakthroughs in full lifecycle carbon reduction, reinforcing its role as a global pioneer in zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing.

Guided by its strategy of “Innovation through Technology,” Hisense HVAC has integrated advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and digital twins to improve both production quality and efficiency while achieving a green transition. In addition, the factory generates over 6 million kWh of solar power annually. These initiatives have reduced carbon emissions from the Qingdao Factory’s operations by 47% and supply chain emissions by 16%.

“The establishment of a Sustainability Lighthouse is a powerful reflection of Hisense’s dual-engine strategy of digitalization and green development. It sets a new benchmark and represents a major breakthrough for the global air conditioning industry. Inspired by this achievement, Hisense will continue to drive innovation, accelerate the industry’s shift toward a digital and sustainable future, and strengthen its momentum in becoming a world-class enterprise,” said Jia Shaoqian, Chairman of Hisense Group and Director of the ESG Committee.
